Opening Day

6/3/19

Hello, farm members!

We are happy to announce that the farm shares will be starting this Thursday.  It was a cold and cloudy spring so everything has been growing very slowly but there are enough yummy veggies ready to share with you all.  Shares will start off being on the smaller side but they will grow as the season moves along!

*Read through to the end of this message to see what we will be picking this week.*

COMMUNICATIONS:  Please reply to this message so we know that our email system is working.  If you want to add or subtract email addresses, let us know.

GENERAL INFO:  Many of you are old hands at picking up your farm share and some of you are new to the process or to our farm.  Here is a brief run-down of what will happen.  Feel free to ask us lots of questions, about pick-up or any part of your farm share experience.

Pick up is on Thursdays, 3:00 - 7:00.
We use our front porch as the distribution area.
Bring a bag or two for your food and later on, a jar or other way to carry your flowers.
(Remember: farm shares include PYO vegetables and CYO (Choose-Your-Own) flowers.  Much of the cut flowers and PYO garden are planted but there are no flowers or PYO veggies yet.)
Your shares will be in the front porch.  We keep that space cold in the summer months.
Please feel welcome to walk around and check things out but please be careful.  There are lots of ruts, hoses, and general farm stuff in use.  Also please assume any fence you see is electrified!

*We will send an email each week on Sunday or Monday to let you know what we expect to be harvesting.*

MINI-SHARE folks:  Each week you get two items for your share.  Look at the list of what we are harvesting and send us your top 3-4 preferences and we will do our best to give you what you prefer.  Send us your choices before Wednesday, please.  If you don't send your preference, we'll give you "farmers' choice", which will be items we think you will like.

NEW THIS YEAR: We won't be sending an email when the shares are ready to be picked up.  You can assume they will be ready for 3:00, unless you hear otherwise.  Please do not arrive before 3:00 as we are busy getting things ready and taking care of chores.

ALLERGIES/FOOD PREFERENCES:  Please let us know if you are allergic to particular vegetables or heartily dislike something or especially like something.

THIS WEEK'S HARVEST
Greens (kale, mustard, chard, or Asian)
Mesclun
Bok Choy

Rhubarb
Baby beets

Check this blog for pictures of the shares, recipe and storage ideas, and other CSA news.

We look forward to sharing a bountiful, healthy, and delicious harvest with you!
