Farm Share # 2 - June 13, 2019

The shares are happening and it's been smooth sailing so far.  All our farm members are helpful and cooperative.  That's what makes the pick up be enjoyable and peaceful for all.
Thanks, people, you are the greatest!

Mini Share with mini head lettuces and a bunch of
Komatsuna -a tender and mild Asian mustard.

Full Share with garlic scallions, kale, bok choy, rhubarb,
mini head lettuces, radishes, and apple mint.

It was fun to pick the first of the radishes and head lettuces today.  There will be lots more of those coming along, and more roots, greens, and fruits of many kinds.  In particular, we're eyeballing the carrots and the next batch of beets.  We're still planting lots more for later in the season. Winter and summer squash, cucumbers, calalloo, Chinese cabbage, kohlrabi, beans, shell beans, peppers, eggplant, New Zealand spinach, and more!

There are so many vegetables are in the garden!

FARM SHARE #1 - June 6, 2019

It's so exciting to be beginning the farm share season.  We love sharing the harvest with you!

A Full Share - Rhubarb, baby beets. greens of choice (kale, chard, komatsuna, or sensapoi), scallions, bok choy, salad mix, choice of herbs (catnip, apple mint or chives)  We are pleased with the range of this early share, considering the very cold and wet and cloudy spring we had.  We are looking forward to more vegetables and more variety!  It's warm and sunny at last!!

A sample mini share - rhubarb and kale

A sample mini share - bok choy and salad mix.

Farm members get to choose which two items they would like for their mini share, or they can take "Farmers' Choice".

Opening Day

6/3/19

Hello, farm members!

We are happy to announce that the farm shares will be starting this Thursday.  It was a cold and cloudy spring so everything has been growing very slowly but there are enough yummy veggies ready to share with you all.  Shares will start off being on the smaller side but they will grow as the season moves along!

*Read through to the end of this message to see what we will be picking this week.*

COMMUNICATIONS:  Please reply to this message so we know that our email system is working.  If you want to add or subtract email addresses, let us know.

GENERAL INFO:  Many of you are old hands at picking up your farm share and some of you are new to the process or to our farm.  Here is a brief run-down of what will happen.  Feel free to ask us lots of questions, about pick-up or any part of your farm share experience.

Pick up is on Thursdays, 3:00 - 7:00.
We use our front porch as the distribution area.
Bring a bag or two for your food and later on, a jar or other way to carry your flowers.
(Remember: farm shares include PYO vegetables and CYO (Choose-Your-Own) flowers.  Much of the cut flowers and PYO garden are planted but there are no flowers or PYO veggies yet.)
Your shares will be in the front porch.  We keep that space cold in the summer months.
Please feel welcome to walk around and check things out but please be careful.  There are lots of ruts, hoses, and general farm stuff in use.  Also please assume any fence you see is electrified!

*We will send an email each week on Sunday or Monday to let you know what we expect to be harvesting.*

MINI-SHARE folks:  Each week you get two items for your share.  Look at the list of what we are harvesting and send us your top 3-4 preferences and we will do our best to give you what you prefer.  Send us your choices before Wednesday, please.  If you don't send your preference, we'll give you "farmers' choice", which will be items we think you will like.

NEW THIS YEAR: We won't be sending an email when the shares are ready to be picked up.  You can assume they will be ready for 3:00, unless you hear otherwise.  Please do not arrive before 3:00 as we are busy getting things ready and taking care of chores.

ALLERGIES/FOOD PREFERENCES:  Please let us know if you are allergic to particular vegetables or heartily dislike something or especially like something.
