I added a few new recipes to our blog. They all use fall crops like daikon, leeks, and carrots. Some are mine and some come from friends. If you have a favorite recipe to share with your fellow farm members, send it along, or comment on a CSA post. Pictures of what you make are great to share, as well!
SOME FALL FARM RECIPES
Half Share # 19 - October 9, 2014
Radicchio - 1 head
Leeks - 2
Onions - 1 pound
Beets - 4
Hot peppers - 4
Sweet peppers - 1
Daikons - 3
Garlic - 2 bulbs
Escarole - 1 head
Herbs - 1 bunch of choice (choose from leaf fennel, sorrel, parsley, or basil)
Choosing items - 2 (choose from New Zealand spinach, chard, spinach, turnip greens, Poblano peppers, radishes, potatoes, eggplant, garlic, onions, a giant Wine Cap mushroom, Scarlet Runner beans, or chicory)
Full Share # 19
Twice as much as everything in the half share.
Mini Share # 19
Two items of the farm member's choosing. (see list above)
Plus PYO flowers, beans, cucumbers, ground cherries, hot peppers. Some of these are getting pretty scarce after our recent light frosts, but there are some, especially flowers and beans.
We also had some daikons with insect damage that were still usable with a bit of trimming. We offered those to everyone to take as many as they liked.
